The Origin Story

Back in 2009, I discovered that I wanted to have a career where I helped people organize their spaces so that it made their life easier, and their space more beautiful. The following year, my family experienced the grueling process of downsizing aging parents (my grandparents) on both sides of the family who were in cognitive decline. I was spending weekends sorting through the family homes of my grandparents, and became incredibly passionate about the downsizing process and the setup of the apartments in the assisted living facility. (What were we supposed to do with all the stuff left in the house? Were my grandparents going to feel like the new space was their home? How could we bring some sense of joy and home to such an unfamiliar space? And how could we keep my parents home from becoming loaded with 3 generations of belongings?)

I talked to architects and interior designers to see if there was a career focused on helping people with the things they already owned, and they told me it sounded like I just wanted to “move the dust around”. They also cautioned me of too much red tape in what I wanted to do, and that my personality was not “cut throat” enough to make it in design or architecture. So, I continued on my path working in non profits as an event coordinator and volunteered several days a week at interior design non-profit that helped set up homes for people recovering from adversity. Eventually, I heard about NAPO, and that re-sparked my interest in pursing professional organizing (now that I had a name for the career).

In 2019, I attended an entrepreneurship academy in TN to build a business plan and opened my organizing business there in the winter of 2020.

Since then, my passion (and education) has expanded throughout all aspects of organizing, decluttering, and move management. I gained my Certified Professional Organizer (CPO) in 2023, marking the dedication I have to this work. I have also moved cross country twice since then: first to Boston, now to Portland, OR. But most importantly, I have been honored to come alongside hundreds of clients in various life stages, living situations, brain types, and organizing styles to help them reach their goals.
